Who We Are We are a New Jersey-based group of pagans who worship Goddess and God in their many splendid forms. We respect the earth and the nature spirits around us. We remember our ancestors. Often, we will call upon each of these three kindred in our rituals. We do not consider ourselves Wiccans or Druids. In ritual, we do not set ourselves apart from all worlds as Wiccans do, nor do we open the gates between the worlds as Druids do. We ask the four elements to help us “define” our space in this world, which we find magical enough. Also, we do not shield ourselves from negative energies entering our space as do Wiccans, nor do we ask them to stay outside as the Druids do. We protect ourselves from negativity through the powers of the four elements and the focus of ourselves. We see the energy of the Universe as being all encompassing. It is at the same time both male and female. We acknowledge that there is a duality in the universe, which may be represented by female/male, dark/light, creation/destruction, positive/negative, birth/death, etc. In our ritual, we will call upon the Mother Goddess and Father God to represent this. As we go around the circle, we offer members and guests the opportunity to acknowledge the name of a Deity, as an aspect of God or Goddess and to invite nature spirits or a particular ancestor. We use magic as a means to influence outside forces. We may attempt to cause changes to the world around us, within us, heal others, wish for luck, etc. We often include certain acts or verses in our rituals that will help us define and set our goals, making them more real and attainable. Above all else, we are spiritualists working in cooperation with each other to create a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts. We were friends who were lucky enough to discover that we shared a common set of beliefs. We are average people who were called to the ways of our ancestors; we are proud to be a part of this group, and enjoy worshipping together. Our group was conceived on July 4, 2002 and our first official ritual was Samhain of that year. If you have any other questions about who we are, please contact us. |
